The Great Taste No pain Program: The Chronicle Of a Hiatal Hernia

Within the last few years I began to experience annoying problems with digestion. Day time events were rare but at night I would wake up with acid reflux and it would take a while to settle down. By implementing some minor dietary adjustments related to late night eating and drinking I was able to obtain some temporary relief, but eventually the symptoms returned along with the additional problem of periodic belching throughout the day.

Added to this was the occasional pain during swallowing (caused by the spasm of the esophageal sphincter) which was frightening and I had a raw feeling in my tubes so I took a trip to the doctor. My physician verified a Hiatal Hernia diagnosis, with the assistance of a barium meal, and Omeprazole was prescribed. Initially the medicine did make me feel better, but I noticed I was gaining some weight, so I decided to investigate various holistic methods to treat my condition. I have employed several natural procedures since then, such as chewing my food more thoroughly, consuming smaller meals, and taking herbal remedies.

Until I picked up an old publication on food combining and incomplete digestion! This approach is not new to me, having explored this avenue previously in an attempt to lose excess weight. I was realizing that my short lived attempt was missing something, as I decided that additional information about the role of the food, and easier to understand rules would be helpful. The publication I had referred to then was a British book from over twenty years ago, and since that time more nutrition information has become available, and in the United States the various fruits and vegetables are much more available for public consumption.

Thankfully, I then came across Sherry Brescia's book, Great Taste No Pain! Much more straight forward and easier to follow - and very much easier to realize when one is straying from the plan! Adhering to the regimen enabled me to improve my digestion. I do not have to dread the constant thought of the return of those horrendous heartburn type symptoms. No longer do I awaken from a sound sleep to wander into the kitchen in search of something I can eat or drink which will allow me to go back to bed.

There is still some way to go and I would dearly love to be able to pull out the Hiatal hernia! I have referred a friend to the instructions in this book, and she has realized significant improvement as well. So if you are suffering from a Hiatal Hernia, it is my belief that The Great Taste No Pain Program can offer you some relief.
